There are numerous benefits to having real plants in your office that you may not be aware of. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing and brighten up any space, they also have numerous health and work related benefits too.

Here at Solutions, we encourage all our customers to add plants throughout their office and as well as the workspace of their remote workers.

Here are 5 reasons why:

1. Increases Productivity

And who wouldn’t want to benefit from that? Studies results show a 15% increase in productivity in employees whose office and work areas have plants. Employees in the presence of plants have an easier time staying focused and engaged.

2. Reduces Stress

The colour green has been found to have a soothing and calming effect due to its association with nature and the outdoors. This is why plants help reduce workplace stress by bringing the outdoors indoors and subconsciously reconnecting employees with nature, creating a calm, peaceful, and serene feeling within.

3. Purifies Air & Minimises Sick Days

Plants clean the air by naturally filtering out toxins and contaminants found in an office. By improving the air your employees breathe, you can reduce headaches, fatigue, sore throats, coughs, and other symptoms. With fewer employees feeling ill and missing work, the overall mood in the office improves.

4. Creates A ‘Feel Good’ Environment.

No one wants to work in a sterile and/or bland looking office but deciding what colours and design elements to include can be difficult, specially when functionality is the top priority. Plants are a great and inexpensive way to brighten up your office and make it more visually stimulating. Bright colours, vibrant smells and an overall natural feel in the workplace will not only improve your employees’ wellbeing and mood but will also increase creativity.

5. Lowers Noise Levels.

Unavoidable hard materials in offices, such work surfaces, concrete walls and floors etc have no means of absorbing office noise. Although sound barriers are a solution, they are not visually appealing and can create a segregated feeling. The best way to keep an open-plan office and reduce noise levels is, you guessed it…PLANTS! They are perfect for absorbing excess noise, are easy to place around the office and on top of that they have all the above benefits too!

So now you have the benefits, lets talk about what are the best indoor plants for your office!

Here are some of our favourites:

Both of these lovely looking plants are great for purifying the air and are very simple to care for. They don’t need to a lot of light and only need watering once a week.
